Hillstown Rural Community Group (HRCG) is a voluntary community organisation which was formed in December 2008 for the benefit of the local community. HRCG is based at Hillstown, near Whitesides Corner in the Mid & east Antrim Borough Council Ward of Grange. The group aims to provide a community facility with the objective of developing activities which will improve the welfare, education, recreation, and general well-being of local people. To help us achieve these objectives we work in association with statutory agencies and other voluntary and community organisations. The Hall is also available for private hire.
Primarily we wish to sustain, build and promote community development in the local area. As a community organisation we aim to bring together our committee with people who do not currently engage in community or volunteering activities. It gives local people the opportunity to increase community activity and make a difference within their local community.
Such opportunities help improve the quality of life for participants in the following ways:
- Will decrease the feeling of isolation particularly in the rural community
- Build confidence to take part in and try new things for the benefit of others in the community
- Getting to know new people
Events that we organise will provide opportunities for the local community to come together, socialise, and build relationships. This helps reduce social isolation in our locality.
